On January 30, 2025, the third edition of the "Programma 2121 Awards" took place at the Lendlease offices in Milan. This initiative rewards public and private entities that support the Programma 2121 project. Launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Justice, Programma 2121 demonstrates how collaboration between the public and private sectors can create social value for the territory.

The event began with greetings from Dr. Vincenzo Lo Cascio, Director of Prison Expert and Head of Criminal Justice at UNICRI, and Dr. Nadia Boschi, Head of Sustainability Italy & Continental Europe at Lendlease, as well as Co-Founder and Co-Director of the project. The award ceremony took place with the participation of the Head of the DAP, Dr. Lina Di Domenico, via video link.

The winners of the 2024 Program 2121 Awards are:

Leadership: Lombardy Regional Prison Administration Office, for its leadership role in the project.
Excellence: Twenty21 S.r.l., for its ongoing commitment to the project.
Social Value Influencer: Renco S.p.A., for the high number of internships activated.
The Best Social Story: Coimec Coibentazioni Termoacustiche S.p.A., for the significant impact created.
Best Performance: Arexpo S.p.A., for its recognized key role.
Special Shared Value: PlusValue S.r.l., for the special resources shared in addition to ordinary support.
Best Journey: Ivan from the Milan Bollate prison, an inmate who contributed most to the dissemination of the project.

Since the start of the project, 38 companies have activated 132 internships, with a success rate of 55%. Seventy-one percent of the job positions were extended beyond the initial six months, and 56% were converted into fixed-term or permanent contracts. Participants completed 760 hours of safety training, 456 hours of soft skills training, and 312 hours of Digi-Train courses, in addition to the technical training provided by the companies.

The social value created from 2018 to date is $4,314,000, with a growing return on social investment: from 1:4.5 in the period 2019-2021 to 1:10.3-13.9 in 2024. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the workplace inclusivity model proposed by Program 2121.

The event was attended by representatives of the signatories to the Memorandum of Understanding, companies, law firms, and consulting firms involved or interested in the project.

We would like to thank all the speakers and participants at the event!
