The Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, visited MIND to inaugurate Palazzo Italia and meet the institutions and people who work every day to transform the building into the new home of science in Italy.
Many authorities attended the official opening ceremony of Palazzo Italia: from Paola De Micheli (Minister of Infrastructure and Transport) to Stefano Buffagni (Deputy Minister for Economic Development), from Senator for Life Elena Cattaneo to Diana Bracco (President of the Alisei National Life Sciences Cluster).

During his visit, the Prime Minister heard testimonials from Marco Simoni (President of the Human Technopole Foundation), Iain Mattaj (Director of the Human Technopole Foundation), and the people who work at Palazzo Italia every day.

Marco Simoni emphasized: “Today marks another step forward in the development of Human Technopole, the new research infrastructure serving the country. This is certainly not the end of the road, but rather a call to continue working with commitment, determination, and gratitude, because there is nothing more exciting than working for the future, knowing that you are building something that will remain as a legacy for future generations.”

The Human Technopole Foundation studies genomics, computational biology, neurogenomics, and structural biology.
For the Prime Minister, "Palazzo Italia will become a model for how to do science at an international level. Italy needs the Human Technopole to develop into an open strategic plan with the best scientists. I hope that it can somehow contribute to creating a hub with cutting-edge skills and technologies and that the resources allocated by the State will guarantee competitive calls for proposals."

In his speech, Prime Minister Conte also focused on Milan's identity as a "European city," home to "60% of Italian pharmaceutical companies, five universities, and ten research hospitals." He praised the model used for the Foundation: "The synergy between the private and public sectors is something to be cultivated in order to make our country increasingly competitive."

Arexpo president Giovanni Azzone agrees, stating that "the public defines the guidelines and the private sector helps to develop these guidelines. We can experiment with something that can then be extended to the whole country."
