Lendlease, the international investment and real estate group and private partner of Arexpo for the development of the MIND Milano Innovation District, announces the arrival at MIND of one of the units of ABB, a technology leader in electrification and automation. With this partnership, ABB Electrification has signed a nine-year lease agreement for the relocation of its offices, which will move from Vittuone to Horizon, the new building in the WestGate mixed-use area, currently under construction, in early 2026.
The ABB Group stands out for its ability to combine in-depth engineering expertise with sophisticated software solutions, enabling significant optimization of how goods are produced, moved, powered, and used, thereby contributing to the evolution of MIND's urban and industrial fabric.
Already part of Federated Innovation, the innovative public-private partnership model that aims to guide and coordinate the innovation process in the district, ABB actively collaborates on the Federated Innovation project, and with its move to MIND, it also physically becomes part of the ecosystem, bringing with it new expertise in engineering research for the development of technological solutions serving industry, life sciences, and the cities of the future.
"We welcome a new important player in innovation at MIND. The district is growing in step with the ecosystem. With ABB Electrification, MIND is enriched by a leading operator in the mechatronics sector that already benefits from the cross-pollination of ideas, research, and talent as part of Federated Innovation,"said Stefano Minini, Project Director at Lendlease and General Manager at Federated Innovation.
"Within MIND, ABB Electrification will have the opportunity to create a hub close to customers, attractive to new talent and immersed in a strategic ecosystem dedicated to innovation." said Daniele Dominicis, Director of the Smart Buildings division in Italy. "In this context, our division will establish an Innovation Center focused on offering intelligent, sustainable, and circular energy distribution and use, where electrification and digitalization will be the key technologies for a zero-emission future in more livable and people-friendly cities."
At MIND, ABB's spaces will occupy an area of approximately 5,000 square meters (on the ground, first, and second floors) within the Horizon building, an office and laboratory building with a wooden structure for the offices (from the second floor) that will be LEED Platinum and WELL certified thanks to its sustainable development performance.
