Francesca Peri will bring a seminar to MIND entitled: "In the belly of brain phagocytes: advancing our understanding of how microglia eliminate dying neurons."

Francesca studied Biology at the University of Padua and obtained her PhD in 2001 in Cologne, focusing on embryonic polarity in Drosophila. She then joined Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard's laboratory, where she began studying microglial phagocytosis in zebrafish. In 2008, she became Group Leader at EMBL in Heidelberg. Since 2018, she has been Full Professor at the University of Zurich, where she focuses on microglia-neuron interactions using advanced imaging approaches.
